Easter °°°Swirlydoos°°°

I don't think I can get enough of the Gabrielle line from Bo Bunny. Just love all the butterflies!

This is my sweet godchild Victor and I. We had such a great time at Easter.
I used the sketch by Beggahuna for the monthly challenge at Swirlydoos. With the exception of the big flower, which was in a previous kit, I only used items from the April kit.

In the middle of the third °°°SNIPS AND SNAILS°°°

...district. That's where I live.
This digital kit from Snips and Snails is called: SPRING IN THE CITY and features wonderful elements, lovely blues and bright greens!

See the cute skyline and the great alphas? All part of the kit.
My journaling reads: Our apartment is not ideal but as a trade off, the surroundings are perfect. 2 parcs and the botanical garden make up for it.

I loved using the newspaper print and made the city skyline fit the 12x12 page. I stitched around the borders to repeat the green and blue color pattern, added a ribbon and some butterflies.

And the best part is: the whole digi kit is only 2 $!!! Have a look here to buy it.

Thank you card May Kit Scrapqueens

I had so much fun playing around with the May kit! Now there are only bits and pieces left. So I decided to make a few cards. Here is the first one. Very simple, I just like the color combination.
This was based on CPS 215.

Non traditional school mini album

This mini is another work with the May kit of Scrapqueens. I still had lots and lots of photos from the last student-led-conference and I wanted to scrap it in a non-traditional way. So, no cute rulers, apples and stickers. Just sticking with the color scheme brown and green.

On the first page, I described a bit what happened.

I made this flower. Super easy. I love bow ties.

I covered all the edges with the sticky tissue tape. This way it looks clean and neat and protects the edges a bit.

The last page where DD proudly shows the patterns she has made.

They sent me their wonderful May Kit.

These goodies were sent to me: And here is what I did:

Goodness, it is a boy LO!

Hello there and Happy Easter!

No pink, no purple today! This is my cute little godchild Victor, taking a walk in the zoo. He is absolutely adorable and I can't wait to see him again.

I based it loosely on the Sketchy Thursday 4.21, however I could not limit myself to 3 photos since all 4 of him are soooo sweet.

This is also for the butterfly challenge over at Frosted Design. Gotta love this blog! I have never turned in a layout on two challenges and I hope this is ok!!!

Usually, I am more of a straight photo scrapper, but this time I left my comfort zone and I actually like it!

More cards

I guess I just got infected by the card fever. I had so much fun trying out different textures, formats and techniques. As you might know, I am really not a card maker but this week I only have short amounts of time available and cards are so much faster to do than layouts!

For the first 2 cards, I played around with the Blackcurrent stack by DCWV. I just love it. All the papers shimmer, they match perfectly and are really good value.

I used a big petaloo flower as a center and then played with some liquid pearls for a spring card.

This one is very special: a student of mine misprinted her composition (it came out way too small) So I took it home and made the card with it. (I have her permission!)

On the last one, I worked with different layers. Simple but I am quite happy how it turned out.

Beautiful Creative Scrappers 152

I love playing with paper stacks! This one is the the Black Current Paper stack from DCWV. I just love the colors and textures of this collection.

The title is from Dusty Attic and DD chose it. Who can resist the artistic advice of a 5 year old?

DH took this picture of DD and myself on Saturday when we were in town. We loved playing "tourists in our own city". Going to a traditional Schnitzel restaurant, then for icecream and finished off at the traditional Easter market. DD was the "map bearer" (will definately scrap lots of pictures with that) and showed us the way. It was really fun.

Creative scrappers sketch 152 was the basis for this LO. I love this site!

All the best and have a good Monday!

I am not a cardmaker!

I am not a card maker!

Seriously, 99% of the time, I just make layouts. But lately, there has been quite a demand for cards so I got on a roll.

I love the Gabrielle collection from BoBunny and I started making one and could not stop. I love the cute trinkets that came with the April kit from Swirlydoos.

On this one, I just cut up the paper and went wild with glossy accent to make the butterfly just like an embellishment by itself.

Orient Card °°°SNIPS AND SNAILS°°°

Stephanne from Snips and Snails has been very, very busy and has created another stunning mini kit! It is called Orient and has the cutest Asian style elements and papers one can imagine.

Since I have not been to Asia yet but LOVED the colors, I decided to make a "burst out" card. This is how it looks when you have it closed:

And this when you open it up. I actually wanted to mail it to someone but then I loved it so much that I decided to keep it and I will add a picture inside instead. I know, selfish, but I promise I will make more of this kind and then really mail it.

If you like this and would like to try it, go to this blog. http://stampartic.blogspot.com/2010/11/folding-card-tutorial.html. It is really quite easy and does not take that long, once you understood how to fold it.

And to buy the orient mini kit, click on this link here http://divinedigital.com/boutique/product.php?productid=20525&cat=0&page=1 for just USD 1, 87 !!!

If you have any questions about hybrid scrapping, just post it in the comment section below and I will do my best to answer it!

Monkey Frosted Designs Challenge

On Sunday, DD and I went to the park and had a blast climbing trees and doing all things forbidden! She had such a ball climbing up and down, with and without hands that I had to think of a little monkey: Affi (Affe is monkey in German and Affi sound really cute and sweet and means little monkey).

Over at Forested Designs, they have a brad challenge! I LOVE using brads in all shapes, colors and forms and I just happened to have some brown and green leaf brads! I think they just look so cute.

If you follow my blog, you will notice that this is not my usual style. I just had to leave my comfort zone a bit since the last few LOs started to look a bit the same.

On the Horse Frosted Designs Sketch Nr 12

I love using sketches and this one was a particularly inspiring one!

And here is what I made:

My little girl had such fun riding that horse last summer. I, of course, had to lead it and run for 30 minutes. "Faster, faster" is all she wanted! It was such a wonderful day and every time I look at the LO, I remember the warm sun and the great smell of lots and lots of horses!

Traunkirchen in the rain °°°SNIPS AND SNAILS°°° plus page tutorial

It is time again for another new kit release from Snips and Snails! This absolutely wonderful kit is called Puddle Jumpin' and features the cutest items for all those great rain photos. I love the blues in the collection and the alpha is sooo sweet.

There is so much in there! Have a look!

You can buy this super cute kit for just $9

Now for my page tutorial.
When using hybrid techniques, one is limited to printing the papers in A4. Since I love scrapping 12x12 pages, this is sometimes a bit of a challenge.

I am sure you have heard about the rule of the thirds for creating really balanced and expressive layouts. First I mentally divide my page into 9 squares.

Where the lines cross, one marked by the blue circle, these are the focal points. This is where you might want to put the items which should catch the viewer's eye. When using different colored papers, it usually looks quite good if you use one paper for 1/3 and the other paper for 2/3 rds of the page. Now, put the photo and the embellishments according to the grid and you are done. You will notice that I have put the adorable tag on the upper right crossing of the lines.

Musikverein 2 °°°SWIRLYDOOS°°° Sketch Artful Delight

On Sunday we had our last children's concert in the Musikverein. You might know it from the famous New Years Concerts from Vienna also known as the Golden Hall.

Children are always invited to participate and DD manages every single time to picked. She loves being on stage. It is a "proud Mommy moment" when you see you little 5 year old on the big stage in front of 300 people and she does it as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

I have been using up the last bits and pieces of the fabulous March kit from Swirlydoos. I loved it! The colors were soooo mine and the embellishments just perfect.

I based the whole layout on a sketch by Artful Delight! This is sketch ASC 7.

Hugs - Once upon a sketch

There is a fabulous new sketch site up. Once upon a sketch
And here is my take on the sketch.

All papers are from the new Swirlydoos April Kit. Again, Krissy hit the jackpot putting all these goodies together. Starsailer added the butterflies in the correct colors on the website and I was ready to go!

We are still getting hugs and kisses from our DD. The best ones are in the morning when she is still warm from her bed and comes to us, with her teddy in her arm. I hope this will still last for a long time!!!

Free Pirate Digital Kit °°°SNIPS AND SNAILS°°°

To raise awareness about digital piracy, several designers have created a blog train. Just head over to the snips and snails blog and down load the cutest pirate digital kit.
You could make a card such as this one:

I made this card just using the kit and the Martha Steward Modern Garland punch and some stitching. It is perfect for a little boy's birthday! (Zum Geburtstag means "for your birthday")

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
